John Haskins
Master of Ceremonies

Who am I?

I have been a DJ in some form or another for over 15 years.  It all started at the college radio station at The University of South Carolina, GO GAMECOCKS!  I soon moved on to commercial radio and eventually, clubs, private parties and weddings.  I took a couple of years and tried to get a "real job" in the Information Technology world but my first love (music) kept reaching out to me.  My love of music and entertainment shows in my work, I enjoy every minute of it.  For your protection I am fully insured.  I am an active member of the American Disc Jockey Association and The Triad Bridal Association.

I love weddings because they are fun and truly joyous occasions.  After all the emotional and monetary investment people put into such an important day, they just want to celebrate and have the time of their lives.  More times than not, I get to see people at their best and I'm honored when people allow me to help them celebrate their day;  it's a blessing for me.

What once was simply a passion for music has turned into a passion for this business.  Not wanting to just do the same wedding, weekend after weekend, I continue to learn new things so that every performance is unique and tailored specifically to the Bride and Groom I am working for.

I am an active member of the American Disc Jockey Association, currently serving as secretary for the Charlotte, NC Chapter.  This association provides me with ongoing training and support for my business as well as an opportunity to share ideas with my peers in this field.

I am a member of the Triad Bridal Association.  This association allows me to network and share ideas with local leaders in the bridal industry.

I am a member of Toastmasters International.  This group allows me to constantly improve on my public speaking skills.  Let's face it, there is always room for improvement and this group allows me to practice and hone my communication skills.

I completed Mark and Rebecca Ferrell's Marbecca Method Master of Ceremonies Workshop.  This is an intense workshop that focuses on the methodology of being a Master of Ceremonies, teaching everything from voice skills and formal speaking to traditions and how to direct the flow of the evening and the attention of the audience.  The best and the brightest in the industry have attended this workshop and walked away having learned something new.

I am proud to say that my wife and I attended Mark and Rebecca Ferrell's Original Love Story Workshop together in May 2008.  The Love Story is a wonderfully touching experience that allows you to share your unique story with your guests.  This, like everything else, is customized to your personal taste and comfort level.  We were so moved by this workshop that we have decided to provide the Love Story as a gift to all of our couples who want it.  It is not only a gift to you but to your guests as well.

My wife and I attend conventions and symposiums that are focused on continuing to learn anything and everything that will help me provide my clients with the best event they have ever witnessed.

Future Goal:  To be recognized as a Wedding Entertainment Director by the WED Guild.

I also want to thank my wife Barbie for all the hard work she does to help make what I do possible.  Without her dedication and perseverance there's no way that I could do what I do for my clients.  Thank you sweetie!
